Services: Weddings & Blessings
Holy Trinity is a very popular venue for a Christian marriage ceremony. If you live within the Parish of Wentworth, (including Harley and Hoober) or worship at Wentworth or Harley then you are very welcome to be married here.
Please note that for legal reasons marriages cannot be celebrated at Harley Church.
You can also celebrate your marriage at Holy Trinity if one of these conditions are met:
• one of you was baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish;
• one of you has ever lived in the parish for six months or more;
• one of you has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more;
• one of your parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in your lifetime;
• one of your parents has regularly attended public worship at Wentworth for six months or more in your lifetime;
• your parents or grandparents were married in the parish
Very few couples actually meet any of these conditions when they apply and most become qualified by attending church for six months. Occasionally, if they live away, their parents come instead. We don't expect weekly attendance but you should come reasonably often. We do check! Please see elsewhere in this site for details of when the services are. And we hope they aren't as boring as you might think!
In church you are making your vows not only in front of your family and friends but before God. The most you can pay for a Saturday wedding (Sunday is a bit more) is £789.50. If money is a problem the minimum charge is £601.50. It would be about £150 less than that if you chose to get married in a register office and then came to church for a blessing. These are based on prices from 2011.
When you are ready to book your wedding please phone Janet Sinclare-Pinder on 01226 740221. A £50 non-returnable deposit will be required. Currently the Church of England is making some changes to wedding fees, we reccomend you that you ask us for the most up to date prices for the current year. Once you have booked, we will make contact with you again at the beginning of the year in which your wedding takes place.
Our church team can also organise the flowers for your wedding. If you would like us to do this, please phone Wendy Lomas on 01226 743762 to discuss your requirements.
Blessing Service – After Civil Marriage or renewal of vows
You may be marrying abroad and yet want an opportunity for your friends and wider family to share in your joy.
You may have married some years ago in a Registry Office and feel you would like to ask for God’s Blessing on your marriage and also renew your marriage vows to one another.
You may decide to marry in a Registry Office (this is a good deal cheaper) and feel you would also like to ask for God’s Blessing in your new life together.
The Blessing Service is similar to a wedding except that the couple enter church together arm in arm. It is slightly shorter as one or two things are missed out. Bookings also need to be made as above via Janet Sinclare-Pinder.
