| Richard has worked for the church since 1966, always in Yorkshire. He also had a dozen years working for Christian Aid, which is an overseas aid charity. Married to Sylvia, they have three sons and now two grandchildren. Sylvia has always done voluntary work in all the places they have lived and is a key part of the team. What does a Vicar do? Lead and prepare Sunday worship, take weddings, funerals and baptisms, visit people and do his best to encourage people to think seriously about faith. And there’s lots of admin! Richard is supposed to be semi-retired but it often doesn’t feel like that. And for time off? Walking in Derbyshire is a shared activity, and then there is his passion for trams; he has published a handful of books on subjects such as trams in Sheffield and trolleybuses in Doncaster. |
